10KM Open Water Challenge to fight Mental Health

The Power of Consistent Self Care featuring Lilly Pilly Counselling

On the 21st of May, a remarkable event is set to take place. Shizuka will be participating in a 10-kilometre open water swim from Bondi to Watsons Bay. But this isn't just about pushing physical boundaries; this event is about showing the power of consistent self-care and how it can elevate our physical and mental health to the next level. It's about promoting wellness for everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

For this event, we are partnering with Lilly Pilly Counselling, a non-profit organization based in Central and Eastern Sydney. They are dedicated to providing trauma-informed care for people with severe mental health conditions. Their aim is to create safe spaces for individuals who might be struggling due to past traumatic experiences or PTSD, which often limit their ability to engage in regular physical activities on their own.

By supporting Lilly Pilly Counselling, we hope to help fund a 10-week trauma-informed yoga program. This initiative is designed not only to help individuals in need to regain control over their bodies but also to help them find peace and mindfulness within their minds.

Many of us are fortunate to have the freedom to exercise in our favourite gyms or attend yoga studios whenever we want. We often take this privilege for granted. However, there are those who, due to their traumatic pasts and mental health conditions, find this seemingly simple act to be a significant challenge. That’s why organizations like Lilly Pilly Counselling are essential. They provide a safe environment for these individuals to enjoy the benefits of regular exercise, something many of us may take for granted.

Shizuka's participation in the open water swim is NOT about going from 0 to 100. It's about demonstrating that with regular, consistent self-care and exercise, we can all improve our fitness levels and overall well-being. By taking care of our bodies, we also take care of our minds.

We invite you to join us in supporting Lilly Pilly Counselling and their noble mission. If you can, please donate or share link provided: https://lillypillycounselling.com.au/donate/

Your support will go a long way in making sure that those struggling with severe mental health conditions will have access to the care and support they need. Let's embrace the spirit of Kaizen, the idea of continuous improvement, and apply it not only to ourselves but also to how we support and uplift those around us.

Remember, consistent self-care is not just about enhancing our fitness levels, but also about strengthening our mental health and resilience. Let's make a difference, one stroke at a time.
